Transform a household object into an anthropomorphic figure and narrate its life. Provoke participants to build an emotional connection with a traditionally banal artefact.

Apply my knowledge of circuit prototyping and programming in a team to build an impressive final project.

Solution

Programming an Arduino micro controller to control tactility sensors. Provide response through motorized cams and a throbbing motor to simulate cardiovascular and respiratory systems. 

Result

The chair's evolution through time is conveyed by the furniture piece's affordance. Users form a relationship to the chair thanks to its behaviour in their presence.

Feel

Experience

Although the initial confrontation of a haptic chair disturbs participants, their duelling curiosity and familiarity with the object persuades them to indulge in the chair's activity.
